The Property

Tucked away on a 200-year-old farm in the sleepy village of Riebeek Kasteel, lies Kokos Huis. Cosy nooks, sunny stoeps, lush gardens and a sparkling palm-lined pool is the setting for this home away from home. Think of this soulful Swartland oasis as a secret hidden gem, your very own hideaway when you want to get away from it all.

Kokos Huis offers 6 bedrooms set in the beautiful main house and 3 independent studios, each carefully considered and styled to reflect the cosy homeliness of the area, with elevated details to make your stay a little bit luxurious.

The Interior

Beautiful decor, great beds, crisp sheets, fluffy blankets and powerful showers invite you to sink in and let go; while cosy corners, gentle lighting and ambient music embrace you in your stay with us.

Cosy communal areas invite you to snuggle up by the fireplace, read a book in quiet nooks and lounges, or sip on a delicious drink in our sexy cocktail room. Soak up the Swartland sun in the outdoor cabana by the palm tree-lined pool oasis or nibble on tasty snacks and light meals in our stylish dining area and stoep.

Kokos Hosts are here to make sure your time with us is as relaxing as possible with warm and gracious Swartland hospitality that makes you feel at home the moment you walk through our door.

The Story

Inspired by a touch of island nostalgia and a yearning for that old school ‘don’t lift a finger’ holiday feel, Kokos Huis was dreamt up by part Andorran part English founder Prisca.

With years of experience in hospitality and a passion for authentic hotels, Prisca founded l’Ovella Negra in her home country, a gorgeous mountain lodge nestled in the Pyrenees mountains between Spain and France.

A friends wedding brought Prisca to South Africa in 2018 and into the arms of a South African natural wine-maker who she later married and settled with on a farm in the Paardeberg with her dogs (Rocco & Lennie) and cat (Minnie Blue). Enchanted by the area and its small-town lifestyle, she was inspired to create a boutique hotel experience in the Swartland to share with like-minded travelers. Prisca searched for the perfect spot and was charmed by the property’s beautiful palm trees that made it feel like a secret oasis. Now a local herself, Prisca offers visitors a kind of ‘locals pass’ to the incredible down-to-earth community of Riebeek Kasteel and Paardeberg. Authentic experiences with real people in beautiful spaces are what Kokos Huis is all about.
